Honey Glazed Ham

Have a taste for a nice, juicy ham to celebrate a holiday or just to enjoy at dinner? Try something new with your ham and demineralize it to lower the potassium, phosphorus, and sodium levels. Then sweeten it up with a honey-brown sugar glaze.

Honey Glazed Ham


Serving size: 2 ½ ounces

2 pounds
ham (demineralized, cured)
1 tablespoon
brown sugar
1⁄2 cup
1 tablespoon
butter (unsalted)



  • Preheat oven to 325°F
  • Warm butter, honey, and brown sugar in a small sauce pan
  • In baking dish, add just enough water to cover the bottom of the pan
  • Place a layer of aluminum foil over the bottom of the pan
  • Place the demineralized ham on the foil
  • Pour the warm honey glaze over the ham
  • Cover with foil and place in the preheated oven
  • Cook for about 15-20 minutes or until safe internal temperature is reached
    • If fully cooked ham, reheat till internal temperature of 140°F in USDA-inspected package or 165°F in other packages
    • If raw, cook till internal temperature is 145°F and allow to rest for at least 3 minutes
  • Continue brushing on the glaze every 15 minutes
  • Serve and enjoy!
